Mystery Play of Elx from Spain

The "Misteri d'Elx" is a medieval liturgical drama that commemorates the Assumption of Mary. It takes place every year in mid August in the Basilica of Santa MarĂa of Elche (Elx in Valencian). In 2001 it was included into the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list and, in the same year, Correos issued a sheet of 12 stamps (one of which is the stamp on the right on this postcard) depicting Spanish monuments, cities and traditions belonging to the World Heritage. This card and the related stamp represent a moment of this traditional play inside the Basilica.
