Giant Red Chōchin from Japan

The Kaminarimon, the "Thunder Gate", is one of the two large entrance gates that leads to the Sensō-ji, an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo. This is a popular tourist attraction, with its giant red chōchin that hangs under the center of the gate. This huge lantern (4m tall!) is both represented on the card and on the stamp, the latter issued by JP Post in April 2012 as part of the Travel Scenes series.
