Candi Borobudur from Indonesia

Borobudur is the most visited tourist attraction in Indonesia. It was built in the 9th century and abandoned in the 14th century. Re-discovered in 1814 by Sir Thomas Stamford, the British ruler of Java, it was included in the UNESCO WHS list in 1991. These buddhist temples are called candi in Indonesian and there are more than 500 Buddha statues decorating this monument. POS Indonesia has issued the stamp used on this card in 2008, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan.
