Happy Easter from Finland

The date of Easter changes every year and it occurs always on Sundays. There are many Easter traditions that are not mentioned in the Bible, but that have been around for centuries, such as decorating eggs and the Easter bunny. The rabbits are an ancient symbol of fertility and new life, while the eggs were a forbidden food during the Lenten season, so they were decorated to mark the end of the period of penance and fasting, then were eaten on Easter as a celebration. These two symbols have been condensed by Finnish Post into one single stamp issued in 2010.
